ONE BILLION RISING
FLASH MOB. CALL TO ACTION.
Esperanza Dance Project is so excited to be hosting the Tucson chapter of One Billion Rising! We hope to see you on Saturday, February 14th at 12:00 PM on the University of Arizona main campus, just east of Old Main.
One Billion Rising is the biggest mass action campaign to end gender-based violence in human history. The campaign, which launched on Valentine’s Day 2012, began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped in their lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to over one billion women and girls.
Every February, we rise - in countries across the world - to show our local communities and the world what one billion looks like. We rise through dance to express joy and community and celebrate the fact that we have not been defeated by this violence.
Please join us at Catalyst Creative Collective at 6pm on January 26th, February 5th, and February 12th to learn the flash mob we will perform at the Valentine’s Day event! Bring your friends and family to learn and participate in this empowering dance!
In 2026, we rise through art and education, listening and solidarity, discussions and reflection, rituals and sharing, documenting and storytelling… we rise to confront, challenge, and transform the systems we are all prisoners to. Until all people and the earth are free, we rise FOR OUR BODIES, OUR EARTH, OUR FUTURE.
See you there!

House of Hope
Community Performance
Esperanza Dance Project (EDP) invites you to join us for the Community Performance of our high school oriented show, House of Hope, on Friday, February 27th from 7-9 pm at Catalyst Creative Collective in the Tucson mall!
Community Performances allow EDP to share our programing with members of our community who do not have the opportunity to see our work in action at a school performance. Each Community Performance features a Q+A with our dancers and a resource fair to connect our audience members to local organizations whose work addresses issues and needs that we discuss in our shows.

Tickets are available at the door for a suggested donation of $15. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
